Shinju Matsuri | Floating Lantern

The Shinju Matsuri Festival 2022 is the biggest one since it commenced, according to one of the speakers at the opening and one of the most anticipated after three years of the pandemic. One of the unique events is the Floating Lantern festival at the famous Gantheume Beach, where everyone who would like to participate can float their purchased lantern with a message to their loved ones who are no longer with them.

They also have a VIP bar set up at the event location where you can purchase tickets and enjoy the beach-beer garden atmosphere while watching the beautiful sunset. The event has changed Gantheume Beach to be a tropical sunset bar that afternoon from the usual car-full beach on other days.

One of the speakers at the opening mentioned that August is an important month for Japanese when they remember their loved ones who are no longer with us and that's how this Floating Lantern festival is related. However, the participants can choose any messages on their floating lantern.
